It’s my annual visit to the dentist. Because of my mobility problems I have to go to the community dentist in Radcliffe (Radcliffe Primary Care Centre) which is a few miles from Prestwich. Travelling by car is no longer an option for me and an ambulance takes a lot of organising. Luckily, I have the tram system in Greater Manchester which is my main means of transport. However, as this video shows, getting to the dentist is not quite as straightforward as it might be.
We have a great health centre in Radcliffe and a world-class tram system. But someone seems to have forgotten the bit in between. Getting from the tram station to the health centre is challenging and fills me with trepidation.
So sit back and join me in my wheelchair journey. Let’s hope that Bury Council are able to identify and remedy this problem for wheelchair users and mothers with young children having to rely on public transport.
